The day commemorates Saint Patrick and the arrival of\u00a0Christianity in Ireland,\u00a0and celebrates the\u00a0heritage and culture\u00a0of\u00a0the Irish\u00a0in general.\u00a0 Celebrations generally involve public parades and festivals,\u00a0c\u00e8ilidhs, and the wearing of green attire or\u00a0shamrocks.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve always wondered how <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><b>Leprechauns have been associated with St. Patrick\u2019s Day<\/b><\/span> and tried to find it online.\u00a0 I found a lot of sites talking about Leprechauns, but none that say why they are associated with St. Patrick\u2019s Day. \u00a0 This is the info that I found courtesy\u00a0of\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.holidayinsights.com\">http:\/\/www.holidayinsights.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Leprechauns, or little people, are Irish fairies about two feet tall. Leprechauns are dressed in green and are shoemakers. They can be found by following the sound of their hammering. They are believed to have hidden away a pot of gold. <b><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">If you catch a Leprechaun, they have to lead you to their treasure. But, be wary, if you take their eye off of them they will get away.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Leprechauns are sly creatures, and will try to trick you into looking away so they can escape and not have to give you their treasure. They are also a bit of a loner, and rarely seen in groups. Seldom do you even see pairs of Leprechauns together.<\/p>\n<p>Just curious, <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><b>do your clients view you as a \u201cLeprechaun\u201d financial advisor<\/b><\/span>?\u00a0 That now that they\u2019ve caught you that you are going to bring them a big pot \u2018o gold?\u00a0 My guess is you have to \u201cmanage expectations\u201d so that they understand you are not a miracle worker.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve looked at a LOT of retirement pictures and some look great, and others\u2026 well the person has just not been diligent enough in their savings.\u00a0 Their expectations of how to live off so little in retirement probably lead them to a \u201clottery\u201d mentality.\u00a0 That they will win big.\u00a0 Or that they will catch a Leprechaun and get his gold.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve also met a lot of financial advisors that aren\u2019t realistic about why they are not growing their practice.\u00a0 They have very few leads and claim \u201cI get referrals\u201d.\u00a0 <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><b>They spend virtually no money on \u201creal\u201d marketing<\/b><\/span> \u2013 by which I mean systematic efforts that bring real potential clients into their office on a regular basis.\u00a0 Or worse, they try something one time and conclude \u201cit doesn\u2019t work\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><b>\u201cReal marketing\u201d requires ongoing continuous effort<\/b><\/span> to track, assess, hone, and improve so that over time the marketing is bringing a profitable ROI.\u00a0 It\u2019s not a one-time expense.\u00a0 It\u2019s an ongoing effort.\u00a0 Ideally, a \u201csystem\u201d that is put in place and constantly worked.<\/p>\n<p>If your practice is growing and <b><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">you want to accelerate that growth \u201cfaster\u201d<\/span>,<\/b> or if you want to put \u201csomething\u201d in place that is foundational for generating leads, please contact my assistant Suzie at suzie@torrid-tech.com to set up a time to discuss your practice.\u00a0 If you are broke and constantly chasing shiny new items procured by Leprechauns, please don\u2019t waste my time.\u00a0 Serious inquiries only.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, I think I just saw a Leprechaun running over that yonder hill.\u00a0 I\u2019d better ignore it and get back to some real work!<\/p>\n<p>Tim Turner<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>March is getting to be \u201cSt. Patrick\u2019s Day\u201d MONTH as people celebrate the Irish green.\u00a0 Where did St. Patrick\u2019s Day come from?
